Mercedes Godfrey Smith

Shreveport, LA - A celebration of life graveside service for Mrs. Mercedes Godfrey Smith, 99, will be held at Centuries Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Harry Forester will be officiating. Mrs. Smith was born on June 22, 1918 in Ringgold, LA to Marshall Allen Godfrey and Bertie Hasty Godfrey. Mrs. Smith passed into eternal rest July 23, 2017. She was a long time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester E. Smith; brothers, Allen Godfrey and Aaron Godfrey; sisters, Bessie Golden and Audrey Alexander. Left to cherish her beautiful memories are her daughter, Judy Lynn Smith Loyer and husband Rex; grandchildren, Philip Loyer and wife Samantha, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith's family very much appreciates the friends and family at The Bradford and Willis-Knighton Hospice for their loving care. Her family suggests memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
