Mervine "Penny" K Newman

Shreveport, LA - Funeral services for Marvine K. Newman will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Bro. Gabe McCormick. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Munnerlyn Chapel Cemetery in Ida, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Marvine "Penny" was born December 10, 1926 in Coushatta, Louisiana to James and Nelvin Kirkham and passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Penny worked many years in the medical field and she loved her job and the people she worked with. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Jimmy Currington; four children; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Stewart, Darlene Martin and husband, Kevin, Laura Rhoades and husband, Jason; sister, Katherine Chrietzberg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her beloved 17 year old furbaby, Khloe. Honoring Penny as pallbearers will be Kevin Martin, Steven Trout, Mark Stewart, Donnie Minor, Jimmy Cothran, Stetson Parker and Kelsey Parker. Serving as honorary pallbearers is Oliver Bell, Victor Stewart and John Stewart. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, Mirriam Prelow, Lisa Billings, Tonya Peyton and Kelly Payton.
