Michael Alexander Patterson

A graveside service for Michael A. Patterson will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 130 E. Stoner Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Father Ioannis Krokos. Michael was born on March 11, 1957, at Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, Louisiana to Pearl Milton Patterson and Basil Patterson and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Growing up, Michael lived in the Highlands and attended St. George Greek Orthodox Church where he served as an altar boy. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1976 where he was a member of the football team. Football was one of his life-long passions, whether playing or watching. His favorite professional team was the Dallas Cowboys. Michael was raised by his Yiayia (grandmother) and mother. His life wasn\'t easy, having been born with a cognitive disability. Yet he was blessed, making many friends along the way and never meeting a stranger, much like his mother. He saw the world through the eyes of a child...a child of God. Preceding Michael in death were his parents; grandparents, Katina and John Milton; aunts, Frances Grigoriadis and Joyce Sweeley; uncle, Stephen Milton; great-aunt, Fifi Anthony and grandparents, Helen and Stephen Patterson. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Kathy Papathopoulos; nieces, Alexandra Papathopoulos and Katina Gifford and her husband, James; great-nephews, Emmitt and Ramsey Gifford; cousin, Alexandra Anthony Snodgrass and many more Greek family members. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James Gifford, Taylor Fargerson, Marty Meeks and Steve Papathopoulos.
