Michael Randall Hayes passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 22, 1963, in Many, Louisiana, Michael lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unwavering determination.
A proud graduate of Stonewall High School, Michael dedicated over 20 years to American Pump Technology as a shop superintendent, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his hard work and exceptional leadership. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Randall Hayes, and his brother, Lyndel Wayne Hayes.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Amy Phagan Hayes of Frierson; his mother, Jackie Jenkins Cathey of Stonewall; his brother, Terry Hayes and sister-in-law, Tyrha Hayes of Frierson; his in-laws, Kenneth and Carolyn Phagan of Bossier City; Peppi, Steve, and Cassie Wilde of Benton, Steven and Katie Flanagan of Benton, Branston and Alarra Flanagan of Benton, and Chelsie Megan Bailiff of Bossier City; nine grandchildren: Braiden Jones, Armani “Millie” Mason, Hallie Greer, Mack, Beck, Gracie, Isla Stone Flanagan, Bowen, and Ivy Hanson. Also, Michael’s loyal companion, K, his German Shepherd, mourns his passing.
Michael possessed a unique and unforgettable personality. His quick wit and colorful attire was legendary as his competitive spirit, whether challenging family and friends to darts, bowling, or Scrabble (often resorting to late-night study sessions to gain an edge)! He found immense joy in simple pleasures: fishing with his grandchildren, four-wheeling adventures, lawnmower rides, poolside shenanigans, and boat trips on the lake. His motorcycle rides brought him immense happiness. He approached each day with a positive attitude and a smile, facing his illness with the same unwavering spirit.
Michael was a fun-loving, caring and thoughtful husband, described by his wife as one-of-a-kind whom she felt blessed to have loved. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished through laughter and shared stories. His vibrant spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
