Michael was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, when he was nine years old. He graduated from Lafayette High School and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (ULL), graduating with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He was an active member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Michael married his college sweetheart and served in the United States Navy. As a Lieutenant, he participated in the evacuation of refugees from Vietnam as the Navigator of the USS Durham. Later, he moved to Beaumont, Texas, to establish his own business. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Pamela Marsalis Kimbrough of Shreveport, LA; son, Matthew Kimbrough and his wife, Joanne of Bournemouth, England, and her children, Bradley and Lauren; and daughter, Valerie Kimbrough of Athens, Georgia. Additional survivors include three sisters and their families: Nell K. Schneider (Jack), Karolyn K. Broussard (Stephen), and Elizabeth K. Norwood (Noel); sisters-in-law Pam F. Kimbrough, Kathleen Kimbrough, and Debbie M. Duncan; nieces Hilary Duncan (godchild), Elise K. Routier (godchild), and Meredith Duncan; other extended family; and his loyal lap dog and good friend, Missy. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends at the camp named the "Funny Farm." The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Robert Holladay, Dr. Robert Walter, Dr. John Bienvenu, Dr. Aaron Broadwell and Dr. Diana Merendino for their kind and compassionate care.
