Michael J. Loftin

On Monday, July 29, 2024, Michael J. Loftin’s Lord and Savior called him home. While he will be greatly missed and loved here on earth, Mike is pain free and enjoying his heavenly homecoming. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

The family will receive visitors Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. The graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service to celebrate Mike will be Tony Henley.

Mike was born on February 13, 1956, to X.L. and Willie Loftin, who preceded him in death and was the baby of ten Loftin children. Also, preceding Mike in death are brothers, Hubert Loftin, Paul Loftin, Jerald Loftin, Will Loftin, and Roy Loftin; sisters, Melba Skipper, and Jan McCrary. Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 51 years, Delphia Loftin; his favorite sidekick, Shadeaux; son, Brian Loftin and wife, Billie; grandson, Brent Loftin; sisters, Carolyn Taylor and Betty Beatty; along with mother-in-law, Doris Mitchell; sister-in-law, Debbie Hamon and husband, David; and brother-in-law, Kevin Mitchell and wife, Julie; and a slew of nieces and nephews.

Mike proudly served in the United States Army National Guard. He worked many years with his brother, Will and nephew, Jeff at EDgear and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family all of whom he showered with love. Mike was a quiet man, aka, “Sgt. HeHe,” with a very giving heart. One of his greatest joys was helping others.

Honoring Mike as honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Mitchell, David Hamon, Michael Loftin, Kenneth Loftin, Michael Polk, and Troy Jones.

Special thanks to the numerous family members, neighbors, and friends who have supported the family in this difficult time. Words cannot begin to express the gratitude we feel.

As Isaiah 40:31 tells us, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” We know Mike has now regained his strength and is running and rejoicing with his loved ones who arrived home before him.
