Mike was born October 10, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana to James "Jack" Russell and Rosemary Kippenbrock Monarch. It was in Shreveport that he met his wife, Deborah Hargrove Monarch. They were married on December 27, 1980.
Mike had an unfaltering faith. He walked with God, taking every opportunity, sometimes even the unconventional, to advance the Kingdom. Mike always gave to homeless on the street, forgave many debts, offered jobs to those re-entering society, gave to every charity that came calling, and always shared his faith, even to hitchhikers. Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity. His children realize the great job they have to honor him and respect his legacy by giving back to the Kingdom.
Mike loved real estate, starting his management and brokerage business, Monarch Realty and Management in 1982. Later, his sons joined him, buying and developing real estate. He found joy in mentoring his sons, as well as other young men, both in their faith and professionally.
He loved life and had an infectious personality. Mike was especially able to enjoy the last few years, spending a great deal of time with his new grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his family, taking every opportunity to slip away to Boot Ranch in Fredericksburg where he attempted to play golf, as well as, Dallas where he recently attended classes at SMU.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Deborah; brother, Jack and his wife, Sharon; brother, Roy and his wife, Nancy; brother, Thomas and his wife, Jill; brother, Patrick and his wife, Allison; son, Jason and his wife, Jennifer; son, Jared; daughter, Lauren; grandchildren, Jackson and Lily Wilkins, Taylor and Reece Jarvis; mother-in-law, Betty Hargrove; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
