Michael Glen Smith

IDA, LA - December 3, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, Michael Glen Smith began his earthly journey. He was put into his mama\'s loving arms, Maxine B. Smith, and his excited daddy, Luther Ben Smith, standing by her side. So began the life of MG Smith. After graduation from NSU, he began a very successful career with AT&T in Atlanta, Georgia for 30+ years. When he retired, he returned \"home\" and settled in Ida, Louisiana. MG\'s earthly journey ended on March 5th, 2017 the way he wanted it to end, all by himself in is home surrounded by the woods that he so loved. He is preceded in death by his daddy, Luther Ben Smith. Left to cherish his memory is his loving mama, son Shane Smith and wife Michelle, grandchildren Leighton, Brennan and Cameron, sister Annette Smith Fortuna and husband, Dave, nieces and nephews, Shane\'s mother, Missy Brown and many friends. The family would like to thank Sandy Hughes and Sheila Whatley for their tender loving care in the last months of his life. His heart and soul was making Monterey Country Club and golf course the best that it could be. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Monterey Country Club in Vivian, Louisiana. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at the Vivian Cemetery for a graveside service.
