Shreveport, LA - Mike Moore was received into the loving arms of Jesus on February 22, 2015.
Mike's beautiful life-journey began on November 22, 1957, in Atlanta, TX. Together, he and his wife owned and operated Morehead Pools, where he was a loved and respected employer. Mike absolutely loved spending quality time with all six of his precious grandchildren; they were a priority in his life. He was an avid supporter of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes. "Coach Mike" was a mentor to many, both on and off the court, and a lifelong fan of anything LSU. But above all things, Mike was passionate about his love for Jesus and sharing it with others. He was a faithful member and deacon at Mooringsport Baptist Church. Mike found great joy in doing the work of the Lord.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Moore, and is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Monica Schuler Moore; Son, Michael Moore II and wife, Becky; Daughter, Michelle Bond and husband, Andy; All of Shreveport, LA. Mike was "Papa" to his six grandbabies, Margaret (Maggie) Moore, Baylor Moore, Drew Bond, Avery Bond, Michael (Miles) Moore III and Allie Bond, who loved him "bigger than the sky". His aunts and uncle, Betty Bounds of Vivian, LA, Esther Laidlaw of Calgary, Canada, and Dick Barfield of The Woodlands, TX, also survive him.
Honoring Mike, as pallbearers will be Greg Renfro, Gray Schuler, Jeff Schuler, Andy Stroup, Chuck Horne, Richard Lamb, Sylvester Hall and Marco Coley. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Morehead Pools.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Mike will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the Mooringsport Elementary Gymnasium, 602 Latimer St., Mooringsport, LA. Officating will be Rev. Eddie Dehondt and Rev. Wayne Dubose. Interment will follow in the Mooringsport Memorial Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation on Friday, February 27th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Mooringsport Baptist Church, 500 Ivy St., Mooringsport, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Mooringsport Baptist Church Building Fund, 500 Ivy St., Mooringsport, LA 71060.
