Mildred Carroll Thrower

Funeral services for Mildred Carroll Thrower, 80, will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Haughton Cemetery, 204 S. Elm St., Haughton, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carroll was born on February 29, 1944, in Dallas, Texas to Powell Edward Carpenter and Katie Opal Matthews Atkins and passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, in New Albany, Indiana.

Carroll loved all things concerning gardening from potting plants to a full-scale garden. She loved westerns and when she was able, reading Danielle Steel novels. She loved listening to the Gaithers and enjoying her favorite snack, Little Debbie Cream Pies. But the thing she loved the most was her little dog, Katie. She adored Katie.

Carroll is preceded in death by her husband, Don Mitchell Thrower, Sr.; parents, Powell Edward Carpenter and Katie Opal Matthews Atkins; brother, Edward Carpenter; sister, Katie Carpenter Scott; and great-grandson, Noah Tyler Pourteau. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Don “Rusty” Pourteau and wife, Dawn, Michael S. Pourteau and wife, Anne, and daughter, Michele L. Pourteau; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Honoring Carroll as pallbearers will be Adam Pourteau, Tyler Pourteau, Peyton Pourteau, Chris Jones, Bryson Shaw, Steven Scott, and Tim Thames.
