MILDRED DORAN OWENS SMITH   BOSSIER CITY, LA - Mildred Doran Owens Smith was called home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 17, 2016. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, with Brother Buster Page officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18^th at the funeral home. Mom was born September 12, 1927 in Smackover, Arkansas to Mary Rachel Grimes Owens and William H. Owens, and passed away on November 17, 2016. She retired from the Caddo Parish School System. She was a longtime member of Morningside United Methodist Church and Summer Grove United Methodist Church. She was also very active in the Eastern Star. Mom was a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, mawmaw, and old mawmaw, who was loved so very much by all. Mom was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Curtis Smith, parents, her ten siblings, daughter-in-law, Cathy DesMarais Smith, great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn May Garrett. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mike Smith and wife, Mickie, and Terry Smith and wife, Billie; daughter, Mary Reasor and husband, Karl; nine grandchildren, Shannon Smith McClain and husband, Doug, Curt Smith, Daniel Smith, Brian Smith, Tamera Smith, Tracy Lemke and husband, Brian, Hollie Lanza and husband, Mario, Karl Reasor, Jr. and wife, Kim, and Alison Smith and husband, Cody; 17 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Honoring Mom as pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family would like to say a special thanks to long time physician Dr. Ajaya Tummala, Dr. Kamlesh Jani, the staff at WKP ICU, and the staff and friends at The Bloom. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations may be made to Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Pl., Shreveport, LA 71101.
