Mona Vinson

The celebration of life for Mona Vinson, 63, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Juan Huertas. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Mona was born June 15, 1954 in Shreveport, LA to Rowe and Katherine Vinson. She passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Holy Angels where she has been a resident since 1970. Mona was the light of our lives. She was always the boss and the princess. She loved all things holidays, celebrations, dancing, camping, swimming, Girl Scouts and most of all anything that involved family. We were so blessed to have had Mona to teach us what we needed to know about life instead of what we thought we knew. The words \"touched by an angel\" apply to anyone that crossed paths with Mona and she never met a stranger. Mona was best known for her hugs and singing to the top of her lungs in church. We were truly blessed to have been gifted our beautiful angel and we are grateful to God for every minute we were given with Mona. Mona is preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Kathy Vinson; brother, Terry Vinson and wife Jamie; niece, Denise Vinson Arthur and husband Marty; two nephews, Kory Arthur and the apple of her eye, Nicholas Arthur. Pallbearers will be Tom Owens, Marty Treece, Sammy Hester, Ransom Ashley, Don Vincent and Guy Tallant. Honorary pallbearers will be The Pool Cousins, Jack Klorik and David Taggart. We are eternally grateful to the staff at Holy Angels. Caring for God\'s special angels is a calling not a job. Julie Campbell, RN and her nurses have gone above and beyond their duties. Mona loved all her \"ladies\" that loved her and cared for her through the years. Mona was so blessed to have been a part of a mission that Bishop Greco and the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows began in the early 60\'s. The Sisters made Holy Angels a magic place where special children of God could live full and happy lives. We would often refer to the campus as God\'s Country. I know Mona was happy to see all the Sisters that had made her life so blessed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Angels Residential Facility, 10450 Ellerbe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71106. Psalm 139:13-14"For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother\'s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know this very well\".
