Graveside services for Monique Yvonne "Nickie" Johnson, 89, will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Larry O'Dell, former minister of Christ United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the private graveside service. Nickie was born on July 3, 1931 to Charles Hayes McDonald and Pauline Mitchell McDonald in Jonesboro, Louisiana and passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Nickie was a resident of Shreveport and a homemaker. She was a devoted Christian and served diligently at Christ United Methodist Church in the ministry with Prayers and Squares, Joy Sunday School Class and the Faith Hope Circle. Later in life she worked in the Schumpert business office and her church as a secretary. Nickie is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Johnson; brother, Charles Sidney McDonald. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Vikki Tompkins and husband, Eddie of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Paula Glass and husband, David of Shreveport, Louisiana; sister, Ronnie Spillers and husband, Alton of Eros, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Pat McDonald of Plano, Texas, Frances Johnson and Olla Johnson, both of Chatham, Louisiana; grandchildren, Tricia McKinney and husband, Michael, Lindsy McFarlane and husband, Rob, Mitchell Glass and wife, Mali, Megan Colvin and husband, Glen; and eleven loving great-grandchildren. Honoring Nickie as pallbearers will be David Glass, Eddie Tompkins, Mitchell Glass, Michael McKinney, Rob McFarlane and Glen Colvin. The family suggests memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1204 Crabapple Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana 71118.
