Mrs. Gairy Williams Baker

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Gairy Williams Baker 92, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhodes. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Baker was born November 13, 1923 in Haynesville, LA to A. Lawrence Williams and Iris G. Nelson Williams and passed away after a lengthy illness on July 14, 2016. She worked as a Bookkeeper in a Dental office until her retirement. A member of Queen Esther Rebecca Lodge for over 30 years and a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport. Mrs. Baker is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 28 years Clell Baker. She is survived by her sons, Edward Baker and Tom Baker and wife Annie; grandson Robert Baker and fiancé Christy; great-grandchildren Kayla and Mackenzie; brother Al Williams and wife Sara; sisters Felice Dye, LaVerne Waters, Maxine Moore, and Annette Backus and husband Tom; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family would like to express their sincerest thank you to Mrs. Baker's caretaker Cindy Brownlee and to St. Joseph hospice for the exceptional care they gave.
