Muriel peacefully passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. She was born June 17, 1924, in Richland Parish.
Muriel was the oldest daughter of Bessie Wimbish and Murry Bennett. Muriel and her only sister, Dollie Goodling, enjoyed much laughter, many adventures and remained close until the time of Dollie's death. After graduation from Vivian High School, Muriel attended Ayre's Business School in Shreveport. She was employed at United Gas Corporation in Shreveport until she married Paul Bundrick in 1949 and moved to Bundrick Farms in Red River Parish. For almost 30 years, she enjoyed raising her children and life on the farm while staying actively involved in church activities at Noel and Coushatta First United Methodist Church, playing bridge, cooking for her family, friends and anyone who dropped by. She was a Girl Scout leader and cheerleader chauffeur, member of the Potpourri study club and various other groups. Her warmth, excellent culinary skills and hospitality will never be forgotten by anyone who visited her home where she frequently entertained guests. She returned to Shreveport in 1984 and continued to enjoy an active life. In 1994, she moved to Palmdale, California where she lived for 19 years and enjoyed making many new friends, playing bridge, traveling and time with family. Her California adventures included starring in a Nabisco Wheat Thins commercial. She became an active member of First United Methodist Church of Palmdale during her time in CA. In 2013, Muriel returned to Shreveport and continued to be an inspiration, source of strength and joy to all she knew. Muriel embraced people and never met a stranger, or at least they didn't stay a stranger for long.
Muriel is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and the father of her children, Paul Bundrick. She is survived by her three children: Paula Bundrick Sour and husband Ben, of Shreveport, LA; Dr. John Bennett Bundrick and wife Suzanne of Rochester, MN and Robert Stinson Bundrick, Sr. and wife Kim of Haughton, LA; seven grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as "Granny Muriel", Dr. Wyche Taylor Coleman III and wife Reneé of Shreveport, LA , Dr. Sarah Bundrick Grimes and husband Arthur of Oklahoma City, OK, Hannah Bundrick of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Bundrick, of Shreveport, LA, Stinson Bundrick and wife Holly of Bossier City, LA, Stephen Bundrick of Haughton, LA and Kaitlyn Bundrick of Grapevine, TX; two great-grandsons, Wyche Taylor Coleman IV and Wyatt Thomas Coleman; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Muriel's fondest memories were of good times with her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Noel Memorial Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. Muriel lived the last five years of her life at the Glen Retirement Home where she made many new friends and reconnected with former friends. Muriel leaves a legacy of independence, resilience and strong faith in her Lord. Muriel embraced life with vigor and joy up until her last breath.
