HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Nannette Rogers Goree, 75, in the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman officiating. Interment followed in Arlington Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Goree was born on August 23, 1940 in Arcadia, LA to Clayton and Nellie Dulany Rogers. She entered into rest on Monday, October 12, 2015 in Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Goree was employed by Homer National Bank which was bought out by Regions, where she worked as a bank teller and retired with over 35 years of service. She loved fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Goree was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harry Shackelford with whom she raised her children and her second husband, Bert Goree; and a son, Allen Rogers Shackelford.
She is survived by her son, Scott Shackelford of Summerfield, LA; a sister-in-law, Myrna Tharp and husband Joe of Homer, LA; a granddaughter, Kerri Shackelford; a great-granddaughter, Peyton Shackelford; a special friend, Howard Lewis of Homer, LA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Ronald Day, Roy Lewis, Russell Mills, Sonny Greeson, James Colvin and Lloyd Wyant.
