Nelson Howard Brown

Funeral services for Nelson H. Brown will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rev. Miles Holladay. Interment will follow at Chalybeate Springs Cemetery in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. prior to the service.

Nelson was born August 30, 1936 in Glens Falls, NY and died December 8, 2023 in Bossier City, LA. He was retired from the hardware industry and enjoyed the outdoors whether it was gardening, woodworking, fishing or hunting he always enjoyed being outdoors. Nelson enjoyed playing music from an early age and one of his proudest achievements was being an instrumentalist in the U. S. Air Force Band.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Anna Lennox Brown; and three sisters and one brother.

Nelson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Malone Brown; son, Todd Brown and wife Brenda; daughters, Robin McGowen and partner Rick Mayes, Michele Ball and husband Ed; granddaughters Jessica McGowen, Allison McGowen, McKenzie Rasbury, Katelyn Elson, Hannah Elson; and grandson Logan Brown.

Honoring Nelson as pallbearers will be Ed Ball, Todd Brown, Steve Earley, Josh Halbert, Bubba Malone and Rick Mayes. Honorary pallbearers are Harry Blackburn and Jewel Bonnette.
