Nettie M. Normand

A funeral service for Nettie Mary Normand will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home located at 334 Acton Road in Marksville, Louisiana. Deacon Ken Primeaux, of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating.

Nettie Mary Normand, age 89, of Marksville, entered into rest on October 24, 2023. She was born in Marksville Louisiana on August 19, 1934, to Emile Jack Normand, Sr. and Coralie “Carrie” Juneau Normand Smith.

Nettie is preceded in death by her parents Emile Normand, Sr. and Carrie Normand; two brothers, Emile Normand, Jr., and Larry Joseph Normand and three sisters, Emaline N. LaPrairie, Una Mae N. Sanders and Jeanette N. Laborde.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Arla C. Bush (Richard) of Marksville, Dane Couvllion (Millie) of Marksville, Renelle C. Deane (Gary) of Alexandria, Renée M. Couvllion of Marksville; brother, Kent J. Normand of Marksville, four grandchildren; Grady P. Gagnard of St. Francisville, Donny A. Gagnard of Marksville, Curt Couvllion (Jessica) of Effie and Davani Tassin (Jamie) of Marksville. Five great grandchildren; Courtney Jarrell of Brooklyn, New York; Ada Couvllion of Effie, Anna Couvllion of Effie, Adley Tassin of Marksville, and Chase Tassin also of Marksville.

A visitation will be held on October 28, 2023, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Marksville beginning at 9:00 a.m., lasting until time of service.

Active Pallbearers will include Grady Gagnard, Donny Gagnard, Curt Couvllion, Michael Normand, Kim LaPrarie, and Stuart Laborde. Honorary Pallbearer, Kent J. Normand. 

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Rivière de Soleil Community Care Center in Mansura, Valley View Health Care Facility in Mansura, All Saints Hospice, and Doctor Warren J. Plauche.

Mrs. Nettie enjoyed music, singing, traveling, cooking, writing poetry, gardening, and collecting niknaks in her spare time. She was the president of The American Legion Auxiliary and an LPN at Colonial Nursing Home for many years. Mrs. Nettie was also the owner and manager of The Corner Store in Fifth Ward, Louisiana.
