Norma Loraine Oliver Johnson, 68, passed away on September 4, 2017, in Oxford, MS, due to complications from surgery. Family graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. In lieu of traditional visitation, family and friends are invited to celebrate Norma's life in fellowship together at Provenance Neighborhood Clubhouse, 1955 Woodberry Avenue, Shreveport, LA, from 2:00 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017.
Norma was devoted to her family, thanking God each day for the blessing of having them in her life. She endeavored to be a source of strength, help, and understanding to her family and friends, as well as to the many other persons whose lives she touched through her career as a speech-language pathologist. Norma shared a special bond with animals and considered her pets members of her family. She enjoyed laughing at life, watching softball and baseball, listening to music, and just being with those she loved. She especially treasured her days as "Nana" to her precious grandchildren. A native of Shreveport, Norma spent her retirement years in Senatobia, MS, moving there from West Monroe, LA, with Tommy to be nearer to their family.
She now is reunited with her loving parents, Norman Coy and Doris Downs Oliver who preceded her in death nearly 44 years ago. She leaves behind her husband, Thomas D. "Tommy" Johnson, with whom she would have soon celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary; and her precious daughters and their families: Mandy Bowers (Steve), Amelia and Max; Melissa Shaw (Gordon), Janna, Julia and Trip; Emily (Rick Arnold). Other family surviving Norma is her extended Johnson family, special cousins and friends.
Our family would like to thank all of our friends and family for their ongoing love and support. Mama loved fiercely and with all of her heart and we know how much your love for us means to her.
Serving Norma as honorary pallbearers will be: Mary Walmsley, Janice Moore, Vickie Irwin, Judy Shouse, Pam Martinez, and Donna Crompton.
