Loving Mother, Mamaw, Friend
Norma Jean Willett King, 89, of Coushatta, Louisiana, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jean was born July 19, 1934, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Mary Lou Willett. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles King of Coushatta, Louisiana; her granddaughter, Jennifer Kay King of Bossier City, Louisiana; her grandson, Joshua Edward King of Athens, Louisiana; her great-grandchildren, Keegan Chase King of Coushatta, Louisiana, Mattie Grace King of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Austin Tyler King of Minden, Louisiana; and her step grandchildren, Jason Scott Lee of Shreveport, Louisiana and Joshua Taylor Lee of Denver, Colorado.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Willett, and her life partner, Patsy Ruth Loftin.
Jean was a lady barber for over 50 years. She had her own barber shop in Hall Summit, Louisiana, and Shreveport, Louisiana. Jean was a counselor for the State of Louisiana for 12 years. She was a member of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous). She had celebrated sobriety since 1971. Jean served in the United States Army in 1968 and 1969. She was stationed in Virginia.
Honoring Jean as pallbearers will be Harry Lawson, Berle Lawson, Jessie Nichols, Chris Born, Jeremy Knight, Joshua Speed, and James McKissick. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Scott Lee and Joshua Taylor Lee.
Funeral services celebrating Jean’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Chapel, 1315 Ringgold Ave., Coushatta, Louisiana, with Bro. Wylan Cloud officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
