Norman Douglas McMillon

It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Norman McMillon, age 75, of Minden, LA, announce his sudden passing on Monday, July 29, 2024. Services celebrating his life will be held at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana, Saturday, August 3, 2024. Visitation with family will begin at 9:00am with the service following at 10:00am.

Norman was preceded in death by his father Carnes McMillon, mother Lonna Moak, stepmother Elsie McMillon, mother-in-law Melba Moore, and father-in-law Louie Moore.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Sandy and daughters, Danielle Justice & husband Rick, of League City, TX, Lori Glover & husband Brian, Kelly McMillon, and Lindsey Collins & husband Alex, all of Minden, LA. He is also survived by sister, Barbara Bachelor & husband Malcom, of Ringgold, LA. Norman’s legacy will continue on through his beloved grandchildren, Logan McCorkhill, Abbey Carter, Ella Glover, Matthew Justice, Brody Glover, Braxton Glover, Izzy McMillon, Nicholas Justice, Louie Collins, & Molly McMillon.

Norman will be remembered for his extensive knowledge and love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Norman was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Minden, LA. As a lifelong resident of Minden, LA and a proud graduate of the Minden High School Class of 1967, he enjoyed his time playing football, circling from Joe’s Dixie Cream to Dairy Queen, and playing pool at the downtown pool hall. Shortly after high school, he worked hard and purchased his first vehicle, the beloved ‘66 Pontiac GTO. Many will remember Norman cruising around town in that car.

After he and Sandy started a family, his new hobbies included golfing with his best friends and playing softball for Southside Baptist Church. The McMillon’s spent many of summers on Caney Lake, where Norman loved to show off his many water-skiing tricks. His favorite being skiing past the swim area with his daughters on his shoulders.

Although he enjoyed having fun and living life to the fullest, his work ethic was unmatched. Norman’s career began in Bossier City, LA, as a roughneck in the oilfield working double shifts. That quickly escalated to him becoming one of the best fishing tool supervisors in the business. So much so, that he was featured in an oilfield magazine. Norman traveled all over the world for work throughout the years. He went as far as the Western desert in China and as East as Almaty, Kazakhstan, lacking only a few hundred miles from going entirely around the globe. With working in Scotland, Egypt, Azerbaijan, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean over one hundred sixty times. He crossed the Pacific Ocean a dozen times working in Indonesia and China.

Lastly, in his words, “It has been a joy and privilege to see so much of this world. I didn’t earn it, but it has been a gift from the one true God. His power and protection have been always with me. I thank him for salvation through his son Jesus Christ, for my life, my family, and especially my wife who has provided me with a wonderful home, even in my absences. I hope she and all my family enjoyed my simple writing. It is for them.”

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Phillip Rozeman, Mr. Brint Fegley, DNP, ACNP and to Dr. David Hamm and the staff of Willis Knighton North for their recent care to Norman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Minden St. Jude Auction.
