BENTON, LA - Oscar Britton (O. B.) Herring of Benton, Louisiana, passed away at age 69 on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Kenny Herring, assisted by Rev. Gary Traylor. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, with United States Air Force Honors. Visitation will be prior to the service on Monday, beginning at 11 a.m. O. B. was born on March 19, 1947 in Oak Grove, Louisiana. He graduated from Forest High School in 1965 and attended Northeast Louisiana University prior to being drafted into military service. O. B. served our country in Vietnam in the United States Air Force. Once his service was complete, he made a home near his family. For the past several years, O. B. was a well-known and well-respected inspector in the pipeline business where he made many lasting friendships. Aside from his work, O. B. was a dedicated family man and friend. He kept in constant contact with his friends, old and new, and was always in touch with his family. He was never too busy to answer a call or to reach out to those he cared for. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. He was an avid fan of LSU sports, Ford Trucks, Louis L'Amour and old westerns. O. B. always enjoyed a good joke and a good natured prank. He was a very kind hearted, genuine and generous person with a quick wit and easy laugh who will be dearly missed by many. O. B. is predeceased by his parents, G.C. and Fannie Mae Herring of Oak Grove, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Herring of Benton, six children, Kathy Viola (Kenny) of Benton, Scott Morgan (Rozz) of Benton, Shelley Williams Starkey (Richard) of Lake City, Florida, Corey Herring (Renee) of Katy, Texas, Carey Herring (Angie) of Belleville, Wisconsin and Brandy Donaldson (Stacy) of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, four loving younger sisters, Bonnie Moss (Beanie) of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Marilyn Warren (Buddy) of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Elois Traylor (Gary) of Kilbourne, Louisiana and Sherry Steward (Gray) of Forest, Louisiana, fourteen grandchildren, Michael Doss, Morgan Gonzales (Matt), Dakota Morgan, Brittainy, Logan and Cassidy Williams, Tristan and Morgan Starkey, Alexis and Haven Freidig, Kylie and Piper Herring, Paige and Creed Donaldson, and four great grandchildren, Cane Lee, Ania and Manny Gonzales and Finn Grinnell.
