Otto Paul Turner

Otto Paul Turner was born November 29, 1933 in Keithville, LA, a place where, as far as he was concerned, was the only place the sun rose and set. He spent his early years in Forbing, LA attending school there. In his high school years, he transferred to Greenwood High School where he graduated and went on to attend some college. In 1956, he joined the U.S. Army, went to school in Fort Sam Houston, TX, and was an Operating Room Specialist in New Orleans. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. While in the service in Germany, he met his soon-to-be wife and mother of his four children. After returning to the States, he worked at Kansas City Southern Railroad until his retirement. He is a Past Master in Landmark Lodge at Keithville, LA where he was a lifetime member. The Masons of Landmark Lodge will perform a Masonic Graveside Service. He was currently residing in Caddo Parish with his longtime friend, companion, and nurse, Pat King, along with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They loved Otto and he loved them and cut up with them fondly until his illness took a toll on his body and he was no longer a playful soul. Otto made the decision to come off of dialysis, knowing that it would eventually cause his death. However, it much sooner than expected. He was miserable not being able to go and see his friends like he did when he was healthy. Believe me, it was his choice not mine as I wanted to keep him around forever. However, I understood and reluctantly gave in to his wishes. Otto was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Margaret Turner and his sister, Margaret Martin. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his long-time and much loved companion, Pat King and all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; four children, Maritta Allison of Duluth, GA, Frank Turner of Haughton, LA, Laura Sickerott of Haughton, LA, and John Turner of Texas; one granddaughter, Christina Weber of Rocky Mount, LA, whom he worshipped and gave her the first of her cabbage patch dolls; great-grandson, Matthew Farmer of Rocky Mount, LA; his loving sister, Catherine Daniel from Hampton, GA; and brother, Miles Turner from Keithville, LA. Otto's visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with graveside services on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Keithville Cemetery on Hwy 171.
