Minden, LA Ovie Earnestine Watkins Burton Ovie Burton, 93, born in Sarepta, November 1, 1922, died August 2, 2016 in Winter Garden, Florida. She resided in Minden most of her life until she moved to Florida to live with her son Jerry, for the last six years. Preceded in death by her husband, W.P. Burton, sons Fred and Jerry Burton; parents Calvin and Cora McCann Watkins; sister Ruby Miller; brothers Johnny, Buddy, Benton, and Davis Watkins, and grandson Eddie Burton. Ovie is survived by her daughter, Faye and Charlie Carter, and Mona Burton; grandchildren, Jason and Sheri Burton, Heather and Kevin Gregory, Leana and George Owens, Dwain Cox, Tina McClelland, Destiny Abagail Judah, and Toni Rausch, Kristi and Bobby McKan, Andrew Burton, Bobee Cox and Stacy Ann Cox, sisters Eva McGinty, Neva Sutley, Dorothy Ann and Tom Foster and numerous nieces and nephews, great grandchildren are Magen, Alexis, and Jake Owens, Calee, Kolleen, and Kollin Gregory, Calaen Burton, Erica Coleman, Forrest and Kayla Coleman, Olivia Tate, Alex Briggs, Jeffery Cox, Evelyn Lee, Chase Lipinsky, Seairra and Jeb Rice, Robin Burton, Ashlyn Burton, great great grandchildren are Kennedy Coleman, Taylor Coleman, Aubrey Trout, Walker, Kohlbi, and Grant Cox. Ovie was a devout Christian lady who read her Bible every night, loved and prayed for family and friends, helped with Bible school, W.M.U.'s, taught Sunday school, took Bible courses thru the years, and was a Rebekah's president once. She took a nurse's aide course at Vo-tech to get sitter jobs helping people, and worked at Sterling Department Store. Ovie got her GED diploma after I got mine. Her life was a testimony of her faith, she lived by God's words and was the nicest, most caring unselfish, and loving, person who sacrificed for her family, all loved her. Bro. Matt Cates, her pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church and Bro. Don Woodard her pastor for 19 ½ years at Parkway Baptist Church will officiate at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden on August 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time Monday. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. Pallbearers will be Michael Miller, Rick Meyers, Jason Burton, Dwain Cox, Charlie Carter, and Billy Pope. We love and miss you very much Moma.
