A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Pamela Kathleen Gates, 59, will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, 6:00 PM, at the Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta with a visitation beginning at 4:00 PM prior to the service.
She was born on March 5, 1963 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Majorie and William Thomas and passed at Christus Coushatta Medical Center on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
Pam loved her mama. She and Katie lived with her mom before she met Thomas. They were the three musketeers. She married Thomas and moved to Coushatta. Thomas loved to travel and ride motorcycles with Pam by his side. She helped D’an with her Breyer horse farm, barns, stables, and Triple Crown winners. Known as Grammy to Grace, her granddaughter, she loved spending time with her.
Fishing was her favorite pastime. She spent many hours on her brother Jim’s dock on Grand Bayou. She got great joy teaching Skylar, Avery and Riley Brohl to fish.
Pam was a Nurse Practitioner in Coushatta and Ringgold since 1997. She served 39 years in the healthcare system. She loved what she did and touched many lives.
She leaves behind her daughter, Katie Gates Travasos; granddaughter, Grace Travasos; stepdaughter, D’An Gates; brothers, Jim and wife, Debbie, Bill and wife, Darlene and Grant Thomas; sisters-in-law, Martha Gates and Carolyn Gates; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and special friends, Doris Bryant, Alicia Smith (Shell), Laureen Painter and Laura Perkins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Majorie and William Thomas; husband, Thomas Gates; brother, Tommy Thomas; brother-in-law, William Gates and uncle, Richard Budde.
Special thanks to Drs. Coleman and Troxclair, Rochelle, and the staff at Christus Coushatta. They cared for her like she was their own.
Pam’s favorite charities were the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana which she supported as a donor and adopter. Mattie and Burreaux, her fur babies, will miss their mama so much. Donations can be made to HSNWLA.com. or the Evergreen Foundation that has taken such good care of D’an.
She will be missed by many. She had her mother’s caring, selfless, strong, and generous heart. Pam loved caring for others and asked little for herself. Say hello to Grandma and Thomas for us. Pam, peace be with you.
