Patricia Belle Durr

A Cremation Memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Patricia (Pat) Barnes Durr, 84, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, with visitation preceding the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Ed Dilworth will officiate the service.

Pat was born at home on March 26, 1939 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to Vivian and Edmond Barnes. She entered into eternal rest after a brief illness on May 23, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Pat was known by most as Granny because of her infectious love for all children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She opened her arms and her house to so many friends, neighbors, and family.  She was well known as a sweet and funny lady who was loved by everyone she met and worked with.  Pat loved fishing, cooking, teaching grandkids her ‘recipes’, and playing “Words with Friends” after retirement. 

She was involved in the Re-enactment of the Battle of Pleasant Hill, where she organized meals for the re-enactors for many years.  She also served as President for the American Legion Auxiliary.  Pat worked at the T.W. Hardee Company store in Pleasant Hill while her children were young.  She then joined forces with her son to open Durr’s Den, a local restaurant and arcade.  After her kids graduated high school, Pat began a career as a Dietary Manager, where she worked more than 25 years before retiring in 2011.

Preceding Granny in death are her parents; 8 brothers, 1 sister; daughter-in-law; 3 great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her daughters, Patti Durr McArthur of Keithville, Louisiana and Connie Durr Gates and husband Dwayne of Benton, Louisiana; sons, Kevin Durr and wife Elvera of Cebu, Philippines, Kerry Durr of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Donny Durr and wife Stacey of Shreveport, Louisiana; brother, Jerry Barnes and wife Betty, of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana; along with 17 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
