Patsy Marie Pratt Adams of Arcadia, Louisiana entered into rest on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at the age of 82.
Patsy was born in Byers, Texas on June 28, 1932 to Mary and Frank O. Pratt. The family moved to Bastrop, LA, where Patsy graduated from Bastrop High School and then attended what is now Louisiana Tech University in Ruston where she received her BA and Masters +30 in Education. She was a school teacher for 27 years in the Bastrop, Homer, Bienville, and Arcadia school systems where many children spent their first day of school in her classroom.
Patsy married Roy Lee "Happy" Adams on November 19, 1955. They shared 42 wonderful years together, raising four children and instilling in them a deep faith and exemplary work ethic. In their retirement years, Patsy and Happy enjoyed traveling around the country in their motor home, attending USS Suamico Navy reunions, making trips to Branson, MO, visiting family and friends, as well as farming and gardening together. Patsy also enjoyed painting, fishing, writing poetry, and playing the piano.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Lee "Happy" Adams, infant grandson, Andrew Nixon and brother, Leon Pratt.
Patsy is survived by her four children and their spouses: Beverly (John) DeWitt of Harrison, AR, Jeff (Terri) Adams of Arcadia, Vickie (Timmy) Elliott of Ruston, and Janet (Jody) Blackwell of Arcadia.
Patsy, or "Memaw" as she was lovingly called, is also survived by her grandchildren: Erin Nixon of Washington, DC, Cade Nixon of Springfield, MO, Logan (Lauren) Blackwell of Monroe, Parker Elliott and Caitlin Elliott of Ruston, Brock Blackwell of Arcadia, and Danica (Jerry) Norred of Quitman. The grandkids will always remember the extreme pride Memaw had in attending their many activities such as football, cheerleading, baseball, basketball, plays, dance recitals, band performances, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts- and most especially, their academic achievements.
Also surviving Patsy is her sister Martha Sue (Jack) Brown of Boulder, CO, sisters-in-law Margie Neyland of Bossier City and Carolyn Pratt of Theodore, AL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
For the past several years Patsy resided at Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Arcadia. She thought highly of the staff there and treasured the special friendship of the activities director, Krishanda Abney, with whom she enjoyed playing Bingo and watching movies.
