Pauline (Polly) Pruett

Funeral services for Pauline Pruett, 91, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Dr. Tim Green officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at the funeral home. Pauline was born July 17, 1926 in Mt. Holly, AR to William and Myra Fielder and went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. Pauline was preceded in death by father, William Fielder; mother, Myra Fielder; step-mother, Mary Fielder; son, John William Pruett; daughter, Peggy Lee Pruett; sister, Evalena Burns; and brother, James Fielder. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kearney Pruett Jr. (Diane); daughters, Rena Beck (Gary) and Sandra Hayes (Dale); sister, Marlene Staggs; brother, Atley Fielder; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her puppy, Pixie. By her family, she was known as mama and mamaw. Whether at home or at work, her caring and compassionate spirit made her a natural born teacher. Through her love and sacrifice, she taught her children and her students in the ways of Jesus. Her earnest and answered prayer was for all of her family members to come to know the Lord as their Saviour. Until the age of 84, Pauline taught English, speech, and life lessons in how to be responsible citizens to the pupils at the following schools - Town & Country, Calvary, Grawood, Friendship, and Central High School. Her students knew her well for her home spun clichés, such as, "that's your baby doll," "that'll fix your little red wagon," and "stop grinning like a mule eating briars." Pallbearers will be Gary Beck, Jr., Travis Pruett, Jacob Pruett, Jared Pruett, Dale Hayes, and Gary Beck, Sr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pet Savers at petsaversshreveport.org or mail to 632 Dudley Drive, Shreveport, LA 71104. Special thanks to Dr. Green and Trish Green who used their magic fingers and special knowledge of voodoo to keep Pauline ticking and helped her recover from life's battles and health issues. Finally, Rena and Kearney would like to express deep appreciation to our sister, Sandra for her love and tireless commitment to take care of our mom every day flowing out of a caring and compassionate heart with little or no thought of herself.
