Percy Marion Alexander, Jr.

Born on May 15, 1934, in Texarkana, AR, Percy grew up on a farm. He attended high school in Epps, LA. He was successful playing basketball and baseball. He was scouted by the Yankees and played Minor League Baseball as a pitcher. In the course of life, he married and moved to Shreveport to begin his career in business. He was one of two people to pass the CPA exam without a formal education. He, being a Mason and a self-made man, continued his success in a successful CPA practice for more than 50 years as well as serving as a trustee for the Federal Bankruptcy Court for more than 35 years, all while raising four children and teaching them the same values of hard work, honesty, kindness and helping others see their way to success. He loved his family more than anything else. Percy is preceded in death by mother Cleo Wimberly Alexander, father Percy Marion Alexander Sr., son Danny Gordon Alexander, brother Tommy Alexander and sister Irene Johnson. Knowing Jesus as his Savior, he is with Him and them now in Glory. He is survived by sons Kenneth Alexander Sr. (June) and Percy M. Alexander III (Tracy); daughter Constance Alexander (Mark); 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings Flora Blackstock, John Alexander, Louis Alexander, Paul Alexander and Clayton Alexander; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street. Funeral services will be Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Wimberly Family Cemetery in Ringgold, LA. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronney Joe Webb. Honoring Percy as pallbearers are Andrew Schurman, Joshua Shelton, Clay Alexander, Chance Alexander and Shane Alexander. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103.
