KEITHVILLE, LA - Funeral services for Perry Carr Pittman, Sr., 89, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the funeral home.
Perry was born September 15, 1926 in Collinston, LA to Marion Jasper Pittman and Sarah Pearl Perry Pittman, and passed away on August 11, 2016 in Shreveport. He was a graduate of Springhill High School and after graduation he joined the US Navy, where he proudly served his country in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Perry made his career in the retail grocery until his retirement from the old Holsum Bakery on Samford St. He was a longtime member of Kings Temple United Pentecostal Church. He was a devoted husband and father.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Margaret Demand and Marian Vaughn, 1 brother Moses J. Pittman, and 1 son Mack Spears. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Janis Ruth Woodall Pittman; sons, Tommy Spears and wife, Linda, Charlie Pittman and wife, Misty, Ron Pittman and wife, Kristina, Perry Pittman, Jr. and wife, Michelle, and Jon Paul Pittman and fiancé, Melinda; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and friends.
