A celebration honoring the life of Phillip Slay, age 33, of Mansfield, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield with Bro. Everett Kingston and Bro. Thomas Tuck officiating. Interment will follow at Prude Cemetery in Stanley, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield.
Phillip was born in Shreveport, LA to Wain Slay and Dorothy Ayres Slay and passed away June 1, 2015 from a hard fought battle with cancer. He was a 2001 graduate of Mansfield High School and a 2007 graduate of Louisiana State University in Shreveport with a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance. After finishing college, Phillip became an Independent Landman. He enjoyed life to it\'s fullest and always had a positive outlook, even through his illness.
Phillip is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jewel and Johnnie Slay and Lester and Katherine Ayers; one uncle, Ray Ayers; three cousins, Joe Ferguson, Chris \"Poncho\" Ferguson and Tim Ferguson.
He is survived by his parents Wain Slay and Dorothy Ayres Slay; one brother Michael Slay & wife Lori; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Honoring Phillip, as pallbearers are Charlie Houston, Ryan Pratt, Brad Burr, John LeBlanc, Shane Adams and Chris Burr.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Boniol and everyone at the Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center for their support and services provided during his illness
