Ralph Albert Gholson, Sr.
HAYNESVILLE, LA: Funeral services were held for Mr. Ralph Albert Gholson, Sr., 91, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steven Beard, officiating. Interment followed at Arlington Cemetery of Homer. The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Gholson was born December 18, 1925 to John C. and Audrey Avinger Gholson in the Homer Oilfield housing. He was a graduate of Homer High School Class of 1942 and attended Louisiana Tech. In 1950 he married Willie Mae West of Port Arthur, TX. Together they had four children: Ralph Jr., Randy, Carla and West. They were married for 34 years. In 1985 he was fortunate to meet and marry Ms. Mary Kelly with whom he shared 30 wonderful years. With Ms. Mary he became a part of a large extended family that loved him immensely. Mr. Gholson was the owner of a local oilfield business of which he was actively involved in up to his passing. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a deacon and loved Sunday School.
Mr. Gholson was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; two brothers, Robert Gholson and James "Bo" Gholson.
He is survived by his 4 children; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; numerous grand and great grandchildren of Ms. Mary; and along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
