STONEWALL, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Ralph Monk, 89, will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Bro. Gerald Head and Bro. John Kutz will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the funeral home.
Ralph was born March 1, 1927 in Castleberry, Alabama to John Irving and Carley May Monk and passed away on August 1, 2016. Ralph proudly served his country in the US Navy. After serving he made his career as a plumber and was a member of the Local 141 Plumbers and Steamfitters for over 65 years. Ralph was a long-time member of Landmark Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling but loved spending time with his family. Member of the Whitetail Hunting Club for 50 years, and a dedicated member of the American Legion. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Georgia Haymon Monk; sons, Ronnie Gilcrease and Monette Mathews, and Danny Gilcrease and Jennie LaForest; daughter, Janet Monk Pendleton and Jimmy Brown; grandchildren, Shaun Pendleton and wife Ashley, Mark Pendleton and wife Jessica, Tammy Starret and husband Shane, and Michelle Brunn and husband John; also 7 great-grandchildren.
Honoring Ralph as pallbearers will be Shaun Pendleton, Mark Pendleton, Kevin Haymon, Matt Lang, Wesley Boddie, and Wayne Owens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vince Santone, Rob Lang, Gayle Culver, Robert Kirkham, Sam Santone and all the members of Whitetail Hunting Club.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Tommy Brown for all the care you gave Ralph over the last 30 years.
