Grand Cane, LA - Funeral services honoring the life of Raye "Granny Raye" Gamble, 86, will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Beulah Baptist Church in the Lula Community with Reverend David Permenter officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Granny Raye was born April 16, 1929 in Mansfield to James and Pauline Morton and went to be with her Lord on August 8, 2015 in Mansfield. She was a graduate of Oak Grove High School which is now the Stanley High School. She retired from First National Bank at the age of 70. Granny Raye was a member of the Grand Cane Baptist Church. Granny Raye loved her church and family. She was known for her clean house, manicured yard, and cooking for others. Preceding Granny Raye in death were her husband Bronson Gamble; son James "Jimmy" Gamble; father James M. Morton, Sr.; mothers Pauline Norris Morton and Madge Worsham Morton; brother James M. Morton, Jr.; and sisters Helen Elliott and Kathryn Lain. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters Pauline Gamble and Donna Basco and husband Teddy Ray; grandchildren Andy Crocker, Jamie O'Gorman and husband Patrick, and Katie Price and husband Jason; great grandchildren Alexis Austin, David Price, Jase Price, Lily-Kate O'Gorman, and Gracie James O'Gorman; sisters Johnnie Stennett, Doris Meredith, Martha Sayers and husband Joe, and Fran Norwood and husband Bryan; brother Bill Morton; and a host nieces and nephews. Honoring the life of Granny Raye as pallbearers will be David Crocker, Andy Crocker, John Russell, Ron Crager, Linny Yeglic, and Jarrin Peoples. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Price and Willie Jutze. The family would like to thank DeSoto Regional Hospital, Mansfield Nursing Center, and Superior Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery 3417 Highway 481, Mansfield, LA 71052, or the donor's choice.
