Shreveport, LA- Raymond Gamble, 85, joined his heavenly Father on Friday, December 12, 2014. Services will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Neath Southside Chapel. Burial is at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hall Summit at noon.
Raymond was a Korean War veteran and worked for Kast Metals until 1983. He turned his love of gardening into a career when he opened Gamble Florist and Gifts in 1987. An avid bowler, he spent one or two nights a week bowling for 50 years. He spent Sundays preparing meals for his family to gather around and share their week with "Papaw." Many quiet hours were spent working jigsaw puzzles, many of which he framed and gave as gifts. A dedicated husband, father and Papaw, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family. A man of immeasurable faith, he spent many years dedicating his gifts and talents to God. A man of few words, he showed us how to live instead of talking about it. The world has lost a bright light as heaven gained a new angel.
Raymond will be met in heaven by his parents Michael and Ella Mae Gamble; brothers Jesse, George, Frank, William, Robert, Carl and John Gamble and sister Violet Croyle; and his sons Gary and Steve Gamble.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years Marjorie Gamble; sons Daniel Gamble and partner William Smith and Gene Gamble and wife Pamela; granddaughters Shannon Henderson and husband Jared, Misty Gamble-Riser and husband Derek, Diana Parkerson and husband James, and Lisa Cameron and husband Anthony; great-grandchildren, Damien, Dylan, Aubrey and Morgan; and brother Merle Gamble and sister Margaret Lardin.
