Raymond A Gibson

SHREVEPORT, LA- A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Raymond Alton Gibson will be held on January 18, 2017 10a.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. The Interment will follow the service, and be at Forest Park West. A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday January 17, 2017 5-7pm. Mr. Gibson was born March 27, 1929 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 14, 2017. This Korean War Army Veteran was a Godly Man who lived his faith. Anyone who knew this great man would tell you he had a huge heart, no enemies, and to know him was to love him. He loved to grow vegetables and farming his pecan trees. He pampered his garden, but not nearly as much as his grandchildren. His family was truly the greatest joy of his life. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his loving wife Bobbie Dereuisseaux Gibson parents, Ted and Lou Gibson; six siblings; and granddaughter, Deana Barton. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Gailda Zabriskie, Glenda Lagars and spouse Ronald, Peggy Smoak and spouse Ernest, Ramona Pickett and spouse David; grandchildren: Janel Ely, Raymond "Mickey" Smoak and spouse Marsha, Brandy Neal and spouse Lee, Brandon "Bubba" Lagars and spouse Misty, Caroline Russell and spouse Seth, Ciara Pickett and boyfriend Daniel Britt; many great grandchildren; and best friend of 20 years, Gus Rachal. Honoring Mr. Gibson as pallbearers will be Bobby Pipes, Gabe Shelton, Matt McDearmont, Kevin Malec, Daniel Britt, and Chris Laws. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Smoak, Bubba Lagars, Seth Russell, Lee Neal.
