Raymond Dale Liles, III of Stonewall, Louisiana passed away and entered the arms of Jesus on November 17, 2024, at 82 years old.
Raymond was born on October 10, 1942, to Raymond Dale Liles, Jr., and Eunice Young Liles in Springfield, MO. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, OK in 1960 and joined the Marine Corps. In 1962, he moved to Louisiana as a horse shoer. Later he met the love of his life of 61 years, Jerry Lynn, who remained by his side as his best friend until his passing.
Raymond owned and operated Liles Welding Service since 1975. Throughout the years he used his talents as an artist blacksmith to create beautiful gates, balconies, and staircases for many people throughout the area. His work was one of a kind. He was an avid outdoorsman and bowhunter. He and Jerry Lynn enjoyed showing and competing with their cutting horses. Whatever Raymond did, he did it well. He had a generous heart and loved to help people, especially young people. He never met a stranger. He would know where someone was from and what they did for a living everywhere he went. He loved to tell people about Jesus and what Jesus had done for him. He would invite everyone he met to join him at Frierson Baptist Church where he served for many years. Nothing gave him more joy than being with his family and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John T. Liles, Jimmy Liles, Paula Liles Webb, and nephew, Brenton Liles. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Jerry Lynn Flowers Liles; his children, Tammy Ahrendt and husband, Robert of Magnolia, TX, and Leigh Ann Covington and husband, Marc of Gilmer, TX; his beloved grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Megan Covington, Neal Covington and fiance, Lexie Herndon, and Reagan Ahrendt; three siblings, Gail Liles Partin, Valerie Liles Mitchell, and Philip Liles; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond also leaves behind a wealth of friends that he dearly loved and considered them as family.
A celebration of life will be held at Frierson Baptist Church on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, St. Jude’s, or the charity of your choice.
