A memorial service honoring the life of Rebecca McLaughlin Batts, 77, of Oil City, Louisiana will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Rebecca Batts was born on January 17, 1946, in Castor, Louisiana to Charles and Ocia McLaughlin and was welcomed in the gates of heaven on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Rebecca may have known and grown up with Kenneth Batts from the time they were just children, but she knew for sure he was the man for her when they started dating in 1963. They were married on September 18, 1964, and remained side by side for 59 wonderful years. During that time, they built a beautiful family together. She gave birth to three healthy handsome sons and dedicated her life to teaching, caring, nurturing, and unconditionally loving them. Her family was always her priority and primary focus. She was a proud homemaker who enjoyed spending time in her yard tending to her flower beds and watching her boys run around and play. She may have been completely outnumbered and the only woman in a house full of boys, but she held her home and family together and was the center of all of their worlds. She was a great cook even from the sidelines telling someone else how to do it. She was the household barber and kept all the boys looking good. She was a very talented seamstress who even made her own wedding gown. She loved shopping at Dillard’s and going to the mall. She had a love-hate relationship with Fox News and CNN. She watched it daily no matter how much it raised her blood pressure or got her angry. She was a proud conservative Southern Baptist lady and was for sure frustrated with the way of the world. Her favorite pastime was loading up in the RV and going camping and getting away from it all even if only for a weekend. She really enjoyed the lake, the woods, and the peace and serenity of all God’s beautiful creations. She loved her entire family, especially her grandchildren. They were the center of her universe, and the whole world revolved around them. She loved them to the moon and back and she spent as much time with them as she possibly could. She truly was the matriarch of the family, and she will be missed dearly by them all.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ocia McLaughlin; mother and father-in-law, Barney and Virginia Batts; and brother, Randy McLaughlin. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Batts; sons, Kevin Batts and wife, Mary, Kyle Batts and wife, Kathleen; Kory Batts and wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Keagan Batts, Spencer Batts, Alyssa Rutherford, Malynda Hudson, BreeAnne Cannon and husband, Garrison, Alyssa Jacobs and husband, Collin, Kaitlan Weston and husband, Tanner, McKenzie Thatcher, Allison Brown, Emily Batts, Katie Dee Batts, and Ally Sullivan; 15 greatgrandchildren; brother, Jerry McLaughlin; sister-n-law Kathleen “Sissy” Gholson and husband, Robert; and her dear friend, Margie Otwell.
