Rebecca "Becky" Heard McConathy

Rebecca “Becky” Heard McConathy entered Heaven’s gates on February 15, 2025. She was born in Converse, LA on September 20, 1945, to Douglas and Vivian Heard of Many, LA. Becky was married to her beloved husband of 58 years, Mike McConathy, and together they built a beautiful family in Mansfield, LA. 

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, cherishing her children, Brent McConathy (Julie) of Stonewall, LA, and Brandy McConathy Pitre (Jason) of Prairieville, LA. Her greatest joy was being “Granny” to her beloved grandchildren: Brittany McConathy McNeely (Chance) of Deville, LA, Mallory McConathy of Lake Charles, LA, and Hannah Pitre of Baton Rouge, LA. She also adored her great-grandchildren, Reid “Reidman” McNeely and Pierson “Gladys” McNeely. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her brother, Joel Heard of Many, LA and sister, Melva Heard Howard of Belmont, LA and host of nieces and nephews. 

Becky lit up the room, known for her great wit and kind heart. She never met a stranger, and everyone who knew her loved her. Her 34 year career in banking left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and customers, who appreciated her dedication and compassionate spirit. 

She was welcomed into Heaven by those who went before her, including her parents; her sister, Exie Ann Heard Strickland; her brothers, Huey Heard and Buford Heard; her in-laws, Herman and Marie McConathy; and her cherished brother-in-law, Jimmy McConathy. 

A visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 located at Southside Baptist Church, 7329 LA-509, Mansfield, LA 71052. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, 1500-1524 Old Jefferson Hwy, Mansfield, LA 71052. Officiating will be Mark Koenig. Honoring Becky as pallbearers will be Robbie Heard, Jason Heard, Bill Shetley, David Welborn, Wayne Williams, Lester Simpson, and Chance McNeely. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jason McConathy, Cade McConathy, Bubba Locke, Doug Howard, Jennifer Davis, Karen Welborn, Sharon Shetley, and her three granddaughters. 

Becky’s legacy of love and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
