Reed was born on July 19, 1923 in Flora, Louisiana to William and Ida Everage and passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in Shreveport.
Reed was a wonderful father making sure that his children attended church and knew the Lord while they were growing up. He took them hunting, fishing, camping and enjoyed doing all the family traditions that make memories that last a lifetime. Family was everything to him and the values that come with raising wonderful children that were his pride and joy as well as his eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was definitely a proud grandfather. He served in World War II in the Army/Air Force. He was sent to New Orleans to welding school to enable him to learn the trade so he could work in the shipyards on victory ships that the United States were sending to Great Britain in anticipation of going to war with Germany.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Viola Everage; parents, Ida and stepfather, Clarence Brister; and father, William Everage; sister, Lucille Dale; and daughter-in-law, Kimber Everage. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Kenneth Everage and wife, Carolyn, Glen R. Everage and wife, Janet and Byron Everage; sister, Lavern McElwee; and brother, J.W. Everage; and eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express special thanks to Willis-Knighton Hospice and The Guest House for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Reed during his time there.
