He began preaching at 16 and never stopped. For the past 15 years he has served as the Associate Pastor alongside his best friend, Pastor Rick McDonald of GraceWay Fellowship. Johnny's greatest joy in life was his family. He loved to cook for them and have them gather at his home. He was so proud to be able to officiate each of his children's wedding ceremonies and dedicated each of his grandchildren to the Lord. Johnny learned the printing trade as a teen and quickly became highly skilled. He was well known among local businesses for his dependability, productivity, and quality control. That enabled him to work many places, sometimes two or three at once. He eventually became a high school graphic arts teacher at, Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning, where he influenced hundreds. His work with SkillsUSA brought many students the opportunity for state and national recognition. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of almost 39 years, Lavada and their five children, Bridget (Keven), Brandi (Charlie), Blake (Samira), Brooklynn (Hunter) and Bethany (Cody); his eight grandchildren, Lillian, Ella, Chess, Everleigh, Jackson, Julia, Graham, and Amelia; his father, Billy Johnson Sr.; his brothers, Bill (Kay) and James; his brother-in-law, Tony (Brenda) and sisters-in-law, Lesa (Roger) and Rhonda (Tim); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was known as "Paw" to his grandchildren but also to many others that he welcomed into his family. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Dot Poché Johnson; his sister, Mary Alice Johnson; his maternal grandparents, Albert and Edna Poché, and his paternal grandparents, Willie Lee and Virginia Johnson. Johnny often testified of the power of the prayers and life examples of his parents and grandparents. He was privileged to have preached each of the funerals of his mother and all four grandparents. Officiating Bro. Johnny's Going Home Celebration will be Pastor Rick McDonald of GraceWay Fellowship assisted by Rev. Geno Munds of Family Life Outreach Center in Marshall, TX, and Dr. Carlos Spaht. Pallbearers will be, Keven Mims, Charlie Percy, Hunter Dowden, Cody Coleman, Joshua Bacon, Kolton Sparks, Chess Percy and Jackson Dowden. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews and cousins. Donations can be made in Johnny's name to GraceWay Fellowship. Philippians 4:6-7- Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. John 11:35 - Jesus wept.
