Rev. Leslie Hunter
Rev. Dr. Leslie Hunter passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 29, 2015, quietly, at his home in Minden, Louisiana, surrounded by family and friends. He was 90 years old.
He was born August 28, 1925. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and fought bravely in WWII. After the war he attended Patton Bible Seminary in Oakland, California, and then married Mary Lee Stevenson Hunter, his loving wife of 66 years. He founded Sheppard Heights Assembly of God church in Minden, Louisiana and ministered his entire life.
He is survived by his brothers, Lester Hunter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Bill Hunter of Tyler, Texas; his son, David Adrian Hunter and wife Susan of Winston Salem, North Carolina; his daughter, Teresa Lynne DeGueurce and her husband Francois of Shreveport; his grandchildren: Bridgette Hunter Kemper of Waco, Texas, Collin DeGueurce and wife Margaret of Thibodaux, and Jana Talley and husband Joel of Sugarland, Texas; and his great grandchildren: Andrew and Carson Talley, Sterling and Ryland Kemper, and Tommy DeGueurce and a number of nieces and nephews.
The service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016, 2:00pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 211 Murrell Street, Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Dee Anders officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from noon til service time Saturday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Leslie Hunter dedicated his life to serving God. His work and memory will live on with the thousands of people to whom he preached and ministered. His life is a reflection of his faith. He is Home.
