FRIERSON, LA--Reverend Patrick Henry Cavanaugh, age 80, entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, November 18, 2017 after a long illness. He was born March 18, 1937 in Florien, La. He attended school in Leesville, La. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in El Paso, Tx. where he married the love of his life, Ima Lou Plummer. After serving in the Air Force, he moved his family to the Shreveport-Bossier where he worked for South Central Bell Telephone Company and retired from AT&T. Over the last 30 years, his desire to serve the Lord has led him to serve as pastor in a number of churches in DeSoto parish.
In addition to serving the Lord, his other passions in life included spending time with his family, playing the guitar and violin, gunsmithing, woodworking, and being outdoors.
He is survived by, his wife of 60 years, Ima Lou Cavanaugh, and their four children. He leaves behind their daughters, Shelly (Roy) Jutze of Greenbrier, Ar., Janell Birmingham of Keithville, La., Caron Haymon of Leesville, La. and their son, Michael Cavanaugh of Shreveport, La.
Their 10 grandchildren include Celice (Brent) Turner of Rogers, Ar., Brittany Jutze of Greenbrier, Ar., Angela (John) Colding of Keithville, La., Heather (Jeremy) LeBlanc, Rachel Scott, and Trey Scott all of Stonewall, La., April and Carrie Haymon of Leesville, La., Colten Cavanaugh of Haughton, La., and Ethen Cavanaugh of Shreveport, La. They have 15 great grandchildren.
Others left to cherish his memory include his sisters Dorothy (Lyndon) Smith of Leesville, La., Sandy Whitcomb of Metarie, La., and Fran (Richard) Ralls of Richmond Hills, Ga. His brothers are William E. Cavanaugh of Florence, Ms. and E.A. (Tony) Favaloro of Metarie, La.
Visitation Hours will be Monday, November 20, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 943 Polk St., Mansfield, La. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 943 Polk St., Mansfield, La. Graveside Services will be held at Castor Baptist Church in Leesville, LA on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.
