A funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Richard "Big Red" Allums, 67, will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM with a public visitation beginning at 11:00 AM until service time at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home Coushatta chapel. Interment will follow in Social Springs Cemetery near Ringgold, Louisiana. He was born on June 3, 1954 in Coushatta, Louisiana and passed away on July 29, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mr. Allums is preceded in death by his wife of 24 years Linda Allums; son, Brandon Allums; and parents, Leon and Betty Allums.
Mr. Allums is survived by son, Ricky D. Allums of Coushatta, Louisiana; step-son, John McKay and wife, Stephanie of Shreveport, Louisiana; step-daughters, Jennifer King of Houston, Texas and Bridget Frady of Aiken, South Carolina; brother, Tommy Allums and wife, Debbie of Oklahoma; sister, Patsy Poindexter and husband, Richard of Coushatta, Louisiana; brother, Danny Ostrander; grandchildren, Kari Norred and husband, Kane, Matt Allums (Kacy) and Britton Allums (Destiney), LeAnna King (Brandon), Samantha Cook (Zach), Austin McKay, Nathan Frady, Kaylen and Ashlyn McKay, B. J. Allums and Madelin Allums (Jordan), Kelcee Allums; great-grandchildren, Paisley Allums, Kade Norred, Naomi Ammons, and Rose Cook and many very special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Big Red enjoyed fishing and hunting. He worked for Red River Parish Sheriff Office for many years, drove cross country for years and was a member of the Hall Summit Fire Department where he served as chief.
Pallbearers will be Charles Knotts, Matt Allums, Britton Allums, Jordan Ammons, and B. J. Allums. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Poindexter and Jessie Davis.
