A memorial service honoring the life of Richard Oliver Davis, Jr will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 12 pm at Kingston Road Baptist Church (8900 Kingston Road Shreveport, Louisiana, 71118). Richard was born on November 26, 1942 in Monroe, Louisiana to Richard O Davis, Sr and Marjorie Lucille Reno Davis and was called home to be with His Lord and Savior on February 12, 2018 while being cared for at Meadowview Rehabilitation in Minden, Louisiana.
After graduating high school Richard served in the United States Air Force stationed at Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, Louisiana. He then pursued a lifelong career as a Civil Structural Designer in the engineering field for more than 50 years. He worked for several companies in the Houston area including Bechtel, Mustang Engineering, and Technip. Richard met his wife, Kathy while employed at Mustang and they enjoyed many fun times and trips together. He loved dinner out with candlelight and a good murder mystery. Many days when Richard was not working you could find him in their home office playing music loud while making cds for his wife to enjoy or writing his novels that he had one day hoped to have published. More than anything Richard enjoyed being Papaw. While staying at his son's home (working away from home) he grew close to three of his grandchildren Brianne, Richie, and Hunter. He was a kind and generous Christian man and he was greatly loved by all who met him and he will be missed by all.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Oliver Davis Sr and Marjorie Lucille Reno Davis; his son, Millard Philmore Reno Davis; and his sister, Patricia Jean Davis.
