Richard "Junior" H. Jones, Jr.
Richard "Junior" H. Jones, Jr. was born January 22, 1931 and went to be with his Lord on January 25, 2019. He was 88 years old. He lived in Alexandria, LA where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Juanita Nugent at Bolton High School and they married on July 30, 1949 at Enterprise Baptist Church.
At age 27 he was ordained as a Deacon at Homewood Baptist Church. They moved their membership to Trinity Baptist Church in Pineville, LA and on May 22, 1994 he was presented a plaque for 25 years of service as Treasurer for Trinity Baptist Church. After that they retired and moved to Zwolle, LA on Toledo Bend and joined Aimwell Baptist where he served as Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Director, and on various other committees. Richard was also known for putting on big fish fries at church.
May 25, 2005 Richard caught a large mouth bass weighing 10 lbs 10 ounces on Toledo Bend which he proudly displayed in his home. This was one of his many highlights in his life on the lake.
During his life, he worked at several different places. He was a salesman at Huffman Motor Company in Alexandria, then moved to salesman and route supervisor at Huffman Mercantile. After that he was a school bus driver in the Rapides Parish School System and worked as a salesman at Cenla Camping Center. He retired from there and moved to Zwolle, La and drove a van for Many Health Care North for 17 years.
Richard and Dorothy was married for 69 ½ years. They had 2 children, son Howard Lee Jones, wife Mollie and daughter Sandra Faye Van Huis, husband Joseph. 4 grandchildren, Anthony Jones, wife Dani, Nathan Jones, wife Brandy, Kristy Blalock and Stephen Blalock, wife Kristen. 2 step grandchildren, Jamie Bailey and Chad Van Huis. And 14 great grandchildren.
Honoring him as pall bearers and honorary pall bearers will be all ordained deacons of Aimwell Baptist Church.
Richard "Junior" H. Jones, Jr. will always be remembered as a fine Christian man of God, husband and father. He will always be loved and respected in this matter and many more ways. He will be deeply missed. Through the last 3 years of his life he has suffered physically and he was longing to go home to be with his Lord and sit beside his friends and family and sing his favorite song, "Amazing Grace".
