Graveside services for Richard Paul Maurice, 74, will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Southside Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. John M. Korlaske, pastor of Ellerbe Rd. United Methodist Church.
Rick was born on January 21, 1947 to Willis Everett Maurice and Naomi Nelle Bostwick in Dayton, Ohio and passed away peacefully at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital in Bossier City, Louisiana on Saturday, July 17, 2021.
Rick was a resident of Shreveport and retired from the United States Air Force after a 30-year career and also worked in the telecommunications industry. He spent his retirement years enjoying a slower pace that he had earned over his life that consisted of watching TV, walking his four-legged best friend, ZuZu, visiting his grandchildren in Tennessee, and eating catfish. His love of eating catfish will be part of his legacy. He was a member of Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church where he was Head of Trustees.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Naomi Maurice. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 1/2 years, Clara Bacque Maurice; son, Billy Maurice; daughter, Sandra Maurice Taylor and husband, Jimmy; granddaughters, Hannah and Grace Maurice; brothers, Don Maurice and wife, Lillian, Jerry Maurice and wife, Barb, and Fred Maurice; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends and his beloved nurse, "Red."
Honoring Rick as pallbearers will be John Buehler, Darryl Page, Greg Bacque, Jimmy Taylor, Damon Johnson and David Johnson.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital for all their wonderful care and compassion given to Richard during his time there.
