Richard Wayne Sanders

SHREVEPORT, LA - A Memorial Service for Richard Wayne Sanders, 64, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. There will be a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. To all who knew him, Richie was larger than life with a heart of gold. He loved all unconditionally and deeply, but above all he put his Lord and Savior Jesus and his father in Heaven first. His family and friends were his passion. Richie reveled in their presence. He had the gift of knowing how to make others shine just by loving them. Richie held very close to his heart his mother and father, Billy and Faye Sanders, who preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Kathy Sanders; sons, Matt Sanders and wife Heidi, Justin Sanders and wife Jennifer and Ryan Stroope; daughter, Stacy Davis and husband Trey; grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pappa Dance" or "Poppa Rich," Lleyton Sanders, Lily Sanders, Tyler Davis, Shaye Davis, Sophie Davis, Lane Stroope and Colton Stroope; brother, Jamie Sanders; uncle, Noble Womble; sons in Christ, Samuel Afful and wife Gina and Samuel Sserwadda and children. When it came to having fun Richie knew how to have the most. He loved carpentry, gardening, working on projects around his home and watching LSU sports. Richie knew he was blessed in this life by his wife, family, friends, home and even the bed he slept in, all of which he gave thanks for every single night. He knew he was blessed by every sunrise and sunset of his life. Prior to his death Richie was in communication with his Lord. He said God told him he was "Perfect" and "Healed". Richie said, "I'm looking forward to going to sleep so that I can wake up to my whole new world. I've just got one more step left I think. I'm on the twenty yard line." There was one more message he had for us all; he said God said "we discredit all that He can do". With God all things are possible. Richie was a reflection of God's light to us all. His wit and charm literally drew you to him. His memory is a living legacy of love that lives on in all that knew him. A part of his heart stays with us and a part of ours goes with him, leaving such an empty space that only the love of God can fill - all by His amazing grace. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Suzanne Harris, Dr. Adcock, Dr. Bosley, Tammy Gibbs, Karla Barber, Heidi Brown, Belinda Montgomery and The Southern Care staff, and all those who have donated out of the goodness of their hearts for his treatment.
