SHREVEPORT, LA- A Celebration of the life of Richard H. Watkins will be held on Friday December, 30, 2016 12:30PM at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. A visitation will be held Thursday December 29, 2016 5-7 P.M. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel for friends and family. The burial will take place on Friday December 30, 2016 2 PM at the NW Louisiana Veteran Cemetery. A reception will be held following the graveside at Open Range Fellowship, 9950 Hwy. 80 Greenwood, LA.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents George Witt Watkins and Leola Inez Gorman Watkins.
Richard is survived by his wife Wanda Louise Woods Watkins of Marshall, Texas; son Richard Henry Watkins and wife Terry Watkins of Greenwood, LA.; grandchildren, Shelby Nichole Watkins Musick and Husband, Brandon, Taylor Breanna Watkins; great grandchildren, Charlie and soon to arrive Jaxson; brothers, Glen Watkins and Joe Watkins; sister, Alta Sweeney and husband, E.W. Sweeney.
Richard H. Watkins (72) was born January 11, 1944 and passed on December 25, 2016. He was a hard-working tool and die maker at Western Electric. A Veteran of the Vietnam and Iraq War, he was proud member of the Army-Reserve, those closest to him can say he was more active than reserve as he was always on orders until he retired as a Command Sergeant Major.
The family takes comfort in knowing Mr. Richard Henry Watkins went Home for Christmas.
