Robert (Bobby) Gayle Nichols, 76, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was born to Emma Jean Head Nichols and James (Jimmie) Allen Nichols, Sr., on February 3, 1948. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1966, where he met his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Gay Humphrey, in 1963. Rhonda and Bobby married in 1969 and were blessed with two beautiful daughters and six wonderful grandchildren whom he cherished every day.
After high school, Bobby joined the US Navy during the Vietnam War, committed to serve until June 1972. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation. He graduated from LSU-Shreveport with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1994. His almost forty-year career at AT&T began the summer of 1973, and he was an Electronics Technician at retirement.
Bobby had many hobbies over the years. He loved trains and his Indian motorcycle. He enjoyed photography, creating with stained glass and wood, electronics, camping, scuba diving, water skiing, snow skiing, and any activities with his wife and family.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Jimmie Nichols, and his son-in-law, William Christopher Flowers.
Left to honor Bobby’s memory, until they meet again, are his wife, Rhonda Nichols; his daughter, Shauna Sexton, her husband, Jeffrey Sexton, and their children, Kelsey Sexton, Jillian Sexton, and Aiden Sexton of Shreveport; his daughter, Heather Flowers and her children, Kylie Flowers, Kiersty Flowers, and Connor Flowers of Shreveport; his Sister-in-Heart, Sherry Joy Taylor of Katy, TX; his brother, Allan Nichols, Jr., and wife, Dianne Nichols of Punta Gorda, FL; his sister, Carol Ramsey and husband, Bennie Ramsey of Shreveport; his numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services honoring the life of Bobby will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024, located at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA 71109. Officiating the service will be Brother Jeremy Asher.
